Angela McCarthy is a veteran in what has been a traditionally male-dominated industry having worked in the field of technology for the past 25 years.
As Digital Innovation and Technology Manager working out of the vibrant NSCC Campus in Halifax’s North End, she is in the centre of NSCC’s flourishing arts and tech community, working closely with students who are interested in the ever-evolving technology industry.
Angela recognized early on that not only did she enjoy technology disciplines, she had an aptitude for them. She’s achieved great success and has held leadership roles for most of her career, mentoring many women looking to break into the field. Angela takes great pride in helping to show them a path forward and guide them as they consider and embark on a career in technology.
Angela's best advice is not to be discouraged, stay the course and be mindful and motivated with your intentions. Always focus on where you want to end up, and don’t hesitate to decide. Her parting words to everyone looking to expand their knowledge or lifestyle is to be interested until you can be interesting.
