Power Yoga Canada
When the first Power Yoga Canada studio opened in 2009, its founders had a dream to bring community together. Now with 12 locations across Ontario, including in Sudbury, PYC used technology to foster a sense of community during the COVID-19 pandemic. When PYC was forced to close their doors due to pandemic restrictions, they turned the situation into an opportunity to bring their classes directly into their members' homes. Thinking that exercise and social connection would help members cope with the impacts of the pandemic, all 12 PYC studios partnered together to offer classes online through Zoom and Facebook Live. This allowed students and instructors from each studio across the province to connect, as well as offering more classes to choose from.
Although their studios are now fully operational, the online classes were so well-received that they continue to offer their PYC At Home program, and now have students tuning in from all over the world.
