We want to ensure our advertising is relevant to consumers. For that reason, we use various tools that help us customize the Eastlink ads you see and receive based on your current needs and interests.

1. 1. Targeted online advertising using cookies - If you enable advertising cookies on our website, we will use tools provided by companies like Google and Meta to tailor the Eastlink ads you see on third party websites and social media platforms using data collected via the cookies (i.e., the content you view and select on our website, as well as your community). For example, if you visit our Internet products page, you may see ads on Instagram for our current Internet promotions in your community.
   2. Targeted email advertising using cookies - If you enable advertising cookies on our website, we may send you marketing emails that are tailored based on the data collected via the cookies (i.e., the content you view and select on our website, as well as your community), as well as your customer relationship with us. For example, if you visit our TV products page, we may send you an email about our current TV promotions in your area.
   3. Targeted social media advertising using email addresses - If you provide us with your email address, we may use it to display targeted ads to you on Meta and Google platforms. We do this by uploading an encrypted (or “hashed”) version of your email address to the platform, which then matches it with the email address associated with your user account on the platform. This allows us to ask the platform to: (a) show you Eastlink ads that are relevant to your interests and needs, and (b) show Eastlink ads to other users on the platform who have similar interests and characteristics to you and other Eastlink customers (based on the information the platform holds about you). These programs are operated by the platforms and governed by their privacy policies.

Targeted online and email advertising - You can opt out of this advertising by declining advertising cookies in our cookie preferences manager. You can also use Ad Choice’s opt out tools to opt out of receiving targeted ads from all companies who participate in the Ad Choices program. If you opt out, you may still see generic Eastlink ads online, but they will not be personalized.

Targeted social media advertising - If you don’t want your email address to be used for social media advertising, you can opt out by changing your ad settings on the social media platforms or by entering your email address on this page: https://eastlink.ca/meta-unsubscribes. Please note that you may still see Eastlink ads on these platforms, but they will not be personalized.
