Halifax, NS - The highly anticipated documentar Somebeachsomewhere: Horse of a Lifetime will premiere on Sunday, March 10.

“We feel privileged and so proud to have produced this follow up documentary on such a special subject,” says Michael Smith, Vice President, Eastlink Community TV.  “As a community TV platform that showcases the people, places and events that shape the communities we serve, we believe it is one of the best programs we’ve ever produced and that seems fitting given that this horse is considered one of the greatest stallions of all time.”

Often referred to as the “Wayne Gretzky of harness racing”, Somebeachsomewhere was raised and trained in Truro, Nova Scotia by co-owner Brent McGrath and is the most decorated champion horse ever to be associated with Atlantic Canada, winning 20 of his 21 races.

“Beach had a tremendous impact on the harness racing industry both on the racetrack and in the breeding shed,” says Mr. McGrath.  “But Beach’s story was more than that... his ability to connect with the people his larger than life personality. He was all the buzz in the racing world and won the hearts of everyone that followed him. We are both fortunate and delighted to share his story.”

Narrated through a series of exclusive and in-depth interviews with Somebeachsomewhere’s owners, his driver and others, this compelling documentary tells the story of the exceptional life and journey of Atlantic Canada’s most beloved horse, who raced his way into the hearts of many.

“You don’t have to be a fan of harness racing to be a fan of Somebeachsomewhere,” explains Mr. Smith.  “This documentary tugs at the heart strings and connects to the viewer at an emotional level.”

Somebeachsomewhere died on January 15, 2018 and became the first non-human inducted into the Nova Scotia Sport Hall of Fame this past November.

Somebeachsomewhere: Horse of a Lifetime
will premiere Sunday, March 10 at 9:00 p.m. on Eastlink Channel 610, as part of Eastlink Community TV’s Documentary Sunday series. See links here for a glimpse of what to expect:  A Champion Like No OtherWinning; and A Superstar Sire.
