Meet Our People: Bailey d’Entremont

Bailey d’Entremont knows firsthand the value of being open to new opportunities. She started her career at Eastlink in the Management Leadership Development Program, which offers a 2-year rotation in several departments, allowing for a better understanding of the business, and expedited development of skills.

Bailey has found great success in this program and is now a Project Manager in IT Delivery, as well as a manager to a team of Business Analysts. While IT was not her planned career, she found herself thriving in the quick-paced and adaptive environment that IT brings. She says that having the courage to put herself out there allowed her to find a role that taps into the true essence of herself and her strengths.

Breaking the bias for Bailey not only means working against the biases held by others, but also working towards overcoming some of her own unconscious biases that hold her back like the stereotypical careers and roles women are expected to follow. Bailey explains that from a young age, women are conditioned to have certain beliefs about themselves that can be difficult to overcome. She believes we need to work together to shift how we see women and ensure that young women aspiring to non-traditional careers don’t encounter these barriers to success.

She recommends any young woman starting their career in any field should read Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead by Sheryl Sandberg. This book highlights the biases and stereotypes faced by women in the workforce and presents strategies to overcome these challenges.

Bailey’s career has taken off thanks to her willingness to stretch, her determination to overcome challenges and her natural leadership abilities.
