Having trouble with your home phone? Here are some tips that can help.
This is totally normal! Your home phone requires power to work, so during an outage, you won’t be able to make or receive calls, including calls to 911. If you need to maintain a home phone connection during a power outage, you can plug it into a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply).
To troubleshoot this issue:
Make sure all your home phones are properly connected. Corded phones must be plugged in tightly to the phone set and telephone jack. Cordless phones must be plugged into a power source, with their handsets charged.
If the issue persists, find your home phone modem (MTA). On the back of the modem, press and hold the Reset button for 15-20 seconds. Wait 2 minutes for your home phones to reconnect, then check to see if they’re working properly.
