Learn more about the features of TiVo Stream and how to use them.
This feature will be available with the latest TiVo Stream software update. This update is being pushed out to all TiVo Stream boxes between Sept.23rd to Oct. 7th.
To see only the channels you subscribe to:
Press the Guide button on your remote.
Press the A button on the remote.
Scroll down to Channels and using the right or left arrows, change the selection to Subscribed.
Select View guide with these options and press OK
Important Note: This filter stays active for the guide; these steps would need to be repeated to change what is being displayed in the guide.
You can use the guide, your voice or the keyboard to find content to watch.
Finding content using the guide:
Press Guide on your remote or select Guide from the home screen. The guide displays up to two weeks of programming, and you can navigate through it, select a show to watch or learn more about a program by using the arrow, Info, OK and Back buttons on your remote.
Finding content using your voice:
Press and release the Google Assistant button on your remote while watching TV or viewing any on-screen menu. Using clear commands, you can ask Google to find shows, actors, categories or make recommendations.
To use Google Assistant, your remote must be paired correctly with your DVR. This usually happens after inserting the batteries, but if your voice is not being recognized, follow the steps here to try to pair your remote again.

Finding content using the keyboard:
From the home screen, select Search and use the letter grid to spell out the title, actor or word you’re looking for. Use the arrows and OK button to select a program to watch, view details, set up a recording or OnePass, bookmark a show or navigate through the list.
To choose which channels appear in the guide, you can use the My Channels option. You can also choose to view only your favourite channels.
To choose channels using the My Channels option:
Press the TiVo button on your remote.
Select Menu.
Select Settings.
Select User Preferences.
Select Favourite Channels.
Scroll through the list and press Select to add or remove channels.
Then, to see only your favourite channels in your guide:
Press the Guide button on your remote.
Press the A button on the remote.
Scroll down to Channels and using the right or left arrows, change the selection to Favourites.
Then select View guide with these options and press OK.

To download an app, first you’ll need to sign in to your Google account. If you don’t have a Google account, you can set one up:
Press the TiVo button to go to the home screen, and then navigate to Menu > Settings > Device Settings > Accounts & Sign In.
Select +Add Account.
Select Sign In to proceed or Skip to go back.
To sign in to an existing account: after choosing Sign In, enter the email address or phone number you used for your Google account. Select --> to proceed.
To create a new account: arrow down and select Create Account, and then follow the onscreen prompts.
Enter your password. Select --> to proceed. To enter a special character, press and hold OK while highlighting a number.
The system will check for two-step verification. Check your device to proceed.
Once confirmed, you’ll be logged into your Google account. The email address you use for your Google account will appear on the Accounts & Sign In screen.
To download an app:
Press the TiVo button on your remote.
Select Apps & Games from the home screen.
Select the Google Play Store tile to search for and install compatible apps. For quick access, you can add the app or any other content you download on Google Play to the Apps & Games screen.
Record a single show using the guide or search. Access your recordings by pressing the TiVo button on your remote and selecting My Shows.
Recording using the guide:
Press Guide on the remote and select the program or movie you wish to record.
Press Record or press and hold OK. You’ll see a few options like recording, OnePass and bookmarking. Select Record just this episode or Record movie.
You’ll be prompted to customize your recording preferences. Once you’ve chosen your preferences, select Record with these options to set the recording.
Recording using search:
Search for a program to record using your voice or remote.
If searching by voice, you may be taken directly to the program’s info screen. Otherwise, from the search results, press and hold OK on the program and then select Options. Select Record if available or See More Info to go to the program’s info screen.
If you’ve selected a series, from the program’s info screen, select Upcoming then select the episode you wish to record.
Once you’ve selected the program or movie you’d like to record, arrow down to OnePass & Recording Options and then select Record Show or Record Movie.
You’ll be prompted to customize your recording preferences. Once you’ve chosen your preferences, select Record with these options to set the recording.
OnePass can locate specific shows across live TV, OnDemand and your streaming services, and record episodes as they become available.
If the program being recorded is a sporting event there will be options presented to record a specific team, series or all league games/events.
Setting up a OnePass recording using the guide:
Select a show from the guide and press the OK button on your remote.
Select Create a OnePass for this series and then press OK.
Setting up a OnePass recording using your remote:
Press the TiVo button on your remote, select Search and press OK.
Start entering the show’s title, until you find what you’re looking for.
Use the arrow buttons to highlight the show, press and hold OK, select OPTIONS, select Create OnePass and then press OK.
Once you’ve completed the steps above, you’ll be prompted to customize your OnePass recording preferences. Once you’ve chosen your preferences, scroll to the top of the screen and select Create OnePass with these options and then press OK.
Your OnePass recordings can be accessed from the My Shows screen.

You can record up to 350 hours of content, which can be saved for up to 180 days. Once you have reached your storage capacity, your oldest recording will be deleted automatically to make room for new ones.
Find your recordings by pressing the TiVo button on your remote and selecting My Shows. From the list, highlight the series or show you want to watch and press OK.
You can start a show from the beginning using Restart. Shows with this feature will have a green arrow icon in the guide or when you highlight an episode on the Series screen.
To restart a live show that’s in progress or an episode that’s already aired, press and hold the OK button on your remote and then select Watch now from Restart.
Finding OnDemand content:
Whenever you search for something to watch, OnDemand results are included. You can also browse OnDemand content by pressing On Demand on your remote or selecting it from the home screen. Navigate through the options and learn more by highlighting a category, subcategory, channel or program, and use the OK button to learn more.
If the video is free, the information screen will include an option to play it. If the video must be rented, the information screen will include this option along with the price.
Resuming an OnDemand rental:
Partially and completely viewed OnDemand rentals can be resumed or restarted at any time during the rental period or for as long as they are available from the OnDemand library. To resume a video in progress or to re-watch a video:
Press On Demand on your remote or select it from the home screen.
Select My Rentals and then select the video you want to watch.
Choose to resume playing where you left off or start from the beginning.
Your TiVo Stream DVR has a built-in Chromecast service so you can cast apps from your smartphone, tablet or Google Chrome browser to your TV screen. To cast an app:
Connect your casting device to the same WiFi network as your TiVo Stream DVR.
On your device, open the app you wish to cast to the TV and tap the Cast button.
Select your TiVo Stream DVR from the “Cast To” list.
The Cast button will change appearance, indicating a successful connection. Content may begin to play automatically, or you can choose what you wish to watch, and press Play on your device. While casting content, you can either control playback from your device or your remote.
To stop casting, either press the TiVo button on your remote to return to the home screen or tap the Cast button on your device and select Stop Casting.
To set filters on what channels are visible in the guide:
Press the Guide button on your remote.
Press the A button on the remote.
Available Options:
Show Category: All Shows, Movies, Sports, Kids, or News. Channels: All, Favourites, or Subscribed.
Then select View guide with these options and press OK.
This filter stays active for the guide, these steps would need to be repeated to change what is being displayed in the guide.
Closed captioning, descriptive audio, menu language and screen reader features are available with your TiVo Stream DVR.
To access closed captioning, menu language and screen reader features:
Press the TiVo button on your remote.
Select Menu from the home screen.
Select Settings.
Select Accessibility.
Select from the available options and follow the prompts:
Subtitles and Closed Captioning
Subtitle & Closed Caption Language
Closed Caption Preferences
Language and Audio Description
To access described video:
Press the TiVo button on your remote.
Select Menu from the home screen.
Select Settings.
Select Language and Audio Description
Select SAP (Audio Description or Spanish)
